The T20 World Cup, which West Indies and the USA will jointly host, is set to begin on 2nd June and ends on 29th June. However, some media reports claimed that BCCI made a shocking decision not to include Virat Kohli as part of the squad.

Though Virat Kohli was the highest run scorer for India in the 2022 T20 World Cup, selectors have decided to make the tough decision to select others in his position.

This is not the first time that the media has been circulating this kind of news before the World Cup, but this time, reports claimed that BCCI considers the team’s demands rather than experience and runs scored in previous World Cups.

Youngsters Will replace Virat Kohli?

Virat Kohli has provided massive flexibility in the team’s batting lineup after coming in the 3rd position to bat. Kohli can also open the innings with another batsman, but number 3 was the best-suited position, as he used to score a lot of runs by adopting according to the situation of the batting lineup.

The latest media reports claimed that BCCI selectors are looking for a youngster for Kohli’s batting position, as Kohli’s traditional batting style leaves questions about his place in the T20 format of the game.

Reports also stated that BCCI is looking after Kohli’s performance in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL), which can make the decision easier for selectors to pick him in the squad or not. The BCCI focus has shifted towards young players like Suryakumar Yadav, Rinku Singh, Tilak Varma, and Shivam Dube, who have higher strike rakes that are best suited for the T20 Games.

What Report Claims?

BCCI secretary Jay Shah stated his confidence in winning this upcoming T20 World Cup under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, which also confirms his place in the team. However, Kohli’s participation in the upcoming T20 World Cup, which includes his IPL performance, will be decided next month.

A few reports stated that the selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar had already conducted talks with Kohli regarding his batting alterations that suit the format and demand of the team.

So, if Kohli had talks, we can see changes in his batting for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). He has a decent strike rate in the T20 format, where he always adapts to the situation of the game gives him more runs, and supports the team’s demand. It is unclear what alterations Virat Kohli needs to work on if he wants to fix his number 3 spot in playing 11.

Is Virat In Playing 11?

All the reports are claimed by big media houses like NDTV, Times Now, and Hindustan, but the cricket official networks like Cricbuzz and Cricinfo have not reported anything related to Virat Kohli’s participation in the upcoming T20 World Cup.

This official network has not reported any news about his exclusion or reasons for his exclusion from the T20 World Cup. Virat Kohli was the highest run scorer for India in the 2012, 2014, and 2016 T20 World Cups and has many matches winning runs alongside scoring runs.

Many crickets have responded to the reports and shared their opinions on his exclusion from the playing 11 after the rumors went viral on social media platforms. These kinds of rumors regarding players’ participation in World Cups have become more common these days, and the final list of players selected for World Cups will be different from the rumored players list. So, there is a high chance that these kinds of rumors will not be true.
