The former US president Donald Trump was asked to pay $83.3 million by a federal jury as damages to writer E Jean Carroll. However, Trump has been denying all the allegations and even the final verdict by saying it was a political weapon.

The jury of 7 men and 2 women has demanded to award $83.3 million to Jeon Carroll Trump and $18.3 million as compensatory damages along with another $65 million as Punitive damages to stop future defamation of Jeon Carroll. The jury members were not asked to re-decide the decision on what happened and just asked how much damages should he pay for two statements he made as president due to legal issues as stated by Trump when asked by Carroll’s memoir which was published in a magazine.
Jurors decided in less than 3 hours about the damage pay after a two-week trial which is 2nd time in favor of Carroll’s claim in nine months. He missed the first trial of Carroll and expressed regret for missing the trial and said he would proceed with justifying his claims but the judge limited the period of his trial on the witness stand saying he missed the trial where he denied attacking Carroll and left the trial. He stated the verdict is ridiculous which is a political hunt targeting him and said he will appeal both decisions.

Donald Trump received allegations from Jean Carroll in November 2019 saying that he raped her in the mid-1990s in a Bergdorf Goodman Department store dressing room in Manhattan. He has denied the allegation of Jean Carroll saying she made up her story to boost sales of her memoir.
She then filed a defamation case which the civil jury awarded her $5 million for a sexual assault case last year. The jury told though he was not responsible for rape, he is responsible for sexually abusing Carroll and then denying the claims by her which led to defamation of her reputation. Carroll claimed that Trump had forced her into the dressing room.
Trump New York Civil Fraud Case:
Trump is also waiting for the result of another case which is the New York Civil Fraud trial. The jury is seeking a return of $370 million which was gained by Trump by saying it was earned illegally.
Trump’s ability to pay $294 million in cash or cash equivalents which was reflected by the end of the fiscal year 30th June 2021 as proof. To this Trump responded that he has very little debt and a lot of cash.
