A major announcement has come up from the Karnataka Government as part of the budget 2024. CM Siddaramaiah announced that shops and business establishments can be open until 1 am on all days. Not only shops and establishments but 10 corporation areas will be open till 1 am as per the announcement.

This was one of the demanding requests from the business fraternity of Bengaluru. Along with this, there are several announcements in budget 2024 sessions that we have covered in detail.

Karnataka Government The Announcement:

Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah has announced that all shops and business establishments can be open till 1 am on all days. This announcement was made after the business fraternity demanded the same. P C Rao t Bruhat Bangalore Hotels Association (BBHA) stated “We welcome the move; this will boost the economy and business for sure”. Along with this, the government imposed a 1% cess on property tax under the Karnataka Fire Force Act 1964.

This is to increase the efficiency of fire and emergency departments that will be taxed on property tax of newly constructed buildings. But C P Rao stated this would become an additional burden on shop and establishment owners as they were already paying huge taxes in different forms.

Karnataka Government Future Plans:

The Karnataka government is in plans to build tunnels as it is becoming difficult to widen the existing roads. CM said the tunnels will be constructed on a pilot basis with the Hebbal junction area to be the first to undergo construction of the tunnel.

Hebbal was chosen as the top priority due to the heavy traffic in the area. He added 1,334 new electric buses will be added to Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) along with 820 BS-6 model buses.

Karnataka has collected a record amount of 4,300 crores as tax in 2023 – 2024 which was 1000 crore more than in 2022-2023. The tax collection is expected to touch 6,000 crores during 2024 – 2025. The property tax will be digitalized totally with 20lakh properties under Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) limits.  Along with this Karnataka budget has several key announcements which are provided below

  1. Change in traffic signal control system in collaboration with the Japanese government to reduce traffic congestion on roads. These signals will be installed at 28n major junctions of heavy traffic that will reduce the traffic by 30% and 13% delay.
  2. Karnataka government increased the allocation of the amount to welfare programs which was announced as Rs1,20,373.
  3. Karnataka government will provide 52,000 crores under schemes like Gruhajyoti, Shakti, Gruhalakshmi, Yuvanidhi and Annabhagya.
  4. Liquor prices will be reduced due to the reduction of tax on Indian Made Liquor (IML) and beer charges will be reviewed. while foreign brands’ charges of liquor will be increased.
  5. Free delivery app for food grains who are above 80- years of age under the Anna-Suvidha scheme.
  6. 200 crores for developing a Christian community in the state.
  7. 400 crores for purchasing of medical equipment in colleges and 130 crores for construction of super speciality hospitals.
  8. 100 crores for the development of WAKF properties.
  9. The government is aiming to complete 3 lakh houses in 2024-2025.
  10. Processed millets will be made available at affordable prices.
  11. Karnataka allocated Rs10 crore for women Karnataka elf-help groups.
  12. 2 crores have been allocated for schemes aimed at the financial empowerment of the Sikilgar community.
  13. 50 crores for the development of major pilgrimage destinations for Jains
  14. 50 crores for café Sanjeevini which will be run by 50 women
