A group of gunmen in Russia fired at a concert, which resulted in 143 people getting wounded. The attackers also poured gasoline into the concert and lit it on fire, which resulted in more casualties.
11 People Arrested
Attackers were found in a Renault about 340km away from the attack and were spotted by police on Friday night. They disobeyed the instructions to stop Russia. Arrested 11 people in connection with the attack, of whom 4 were gunmen. They were caught while trying to flee to Ukraine.
People fled in panic. 28 bodies were found in a toilet and 14 on a staircase. Many mothers were found crying and looking for their children.
Russia Suspects Ukraine’s Involvement in Shooting
Russian officials suspect a connection with Ukraine in the attacks; Ukraine’s authorities denied all the claims and any kind of involvement in the attack. Islamic states claimed responsibility for the attacks.
A senior officer said, “Now we know in which country these bloody bastards planned to hide from pursuit—Ukraine,” and we must give them a “worthy, clear, and concrete” reply on the battlefield.
Instructions Through Telegram
In a viral video, suspects are seen being interrogated, while one claims they got instructions through Telegram and even offered money for the job. Tajikistan’s passports are found with the gunmen, and possibly weapons were deployed to them through Tajikistan as well.
Islamic State Involvement
The United States confirmed the claims of the Islamic State, and they also warned Russia about the potential attack. The countries condemned the terrorist act, and security measures were heightened across Russia.
There’s been no official or public statement made till now by Russia’s President Vladimir Putin, as he’s been re-elected just now, but he has affirmed cooperation with other nations to combat terrorism.
Russia has tightened its security at airports, transport hubs, and across the capital. All large-scale public events are canceled in Russia to avoid any further attacks for the time being.
