Royal challengers Bangalore (RCB) won their first title and created history on 17th March 2024. RCB, for the first time, won the title of champions since 2008, and that too is a special title since it came into the Women’s Premier League (WPL 2024).
Even though the title was won by the women’s team, it has fulfilled the dreams of millions of fans, and if the men’s team wins this IPL, then it will be a double threat this time. RCB Wins The WPL 2024 Championship
RCB’s women’s team won their first title in the 3rd season of WPL itself, which is their 2nd final. RCB’s women’s team finished fourth last season even after losing in the first 5 matches in the season. In contrast, this season, they ensured they won the title by defeating Delhi Capitals.
Delhi Capitals were the table toppers in the season with only one loss until the final, but the team again lost to RCB women, which was their 2nd loss of the season. Even though RCB lost 4 of their matches this season, they stood up in the correct matches of the eliminator against Mumbai Indians and in the finals against Delhi Capitals.

RCB vs Delhi Capitals WPL Final
RCB women defeated Delhi Capitals women at Arun Jaitley stadium in the finals of 3rd season of WPL. Delhi Capitals batting first was restricted to only 113 runs in 19 overs, whereas Jemimah Rodrigue and Alice Capsey were out on 0 runs even after the team had a great start. Meg Lanning and Shafali Varma gave a flying start.
Radha Yadav scored 12 runs and was run out in the 17th over. By the end of the 19th over, Delhi Capitals were all out where Shreyanka Patil picked 4 wickets by giving only 12 runs, Sophie Molineux picked 3 wickets, and Sobhana Asha picked 2 wickets for RCB. During the second innings, RCB batters Smriti Mandhana, Sophie Devine, and Ellis Perry scored 31, 32, and 35 runs, respectively. Even Ghosh played a cameo run with the winning runs at the end of 2nd inning.
Women’s Premier League 2024 Highlights
The first match of RCB in the season itself was a thriller where RCB women won by 2 runs against UP Warriorz. In the second match against Gujarat giants, RCB women had a comfortable victory with 45 balls left in the innings and 8 wickets in hand.
The 3rd match of RCB was defeated by Delhi Capitals by 25 runs, and even the next match was a loss for RCB against Mumbai Indians. Then RCB made a comeback against UP Warriorz with a win of 23 runs. RCB’s 6th match was a defeat against Gujarat giants, along with another loss in the next match against Delhi Capitals, which was a close encounter.
Then RCB women won 2 back to back matches against Mumbai Indians. Those 2 victories are registered in 1 league match and another victory in the eliminator. The league match victory was a comfortable one. Still, in the eliminator match, the Mumbai Indians gave tough competition and lost by 5 runs. The final match of RCB in finals was also a comfortable victory with 8 wickets in hand and 3 balls left in the innings.
Conclusion
The orange cap was won by Ellyse Perry, and the purple cap and emerging player award were won by Shreyanka Patil and the champions; all these titles were won by RCB women, and it was a clean sweep for the RCB women’s team. Though RCB women faced defeats in the season, they have stooped up and fired in the right matches to move ahead of everyone and won the title of champions of 3rd season of WPL.
RCB men’s team gave a guard of honor to RCB’s women’s team in the RCB grand unbox event, which looked after a name change and performance by top DJ star Alan Walker.
