However, after many long years of wait, the hospital is ready for its inauguration on March 1st Week which will be open for most of the animals. Ratan Tata Dream Project:
The visionary Philanthropist “Ratan Tata” is one more step ahead in welfare programs by constructing a hospital for animals. The hospital is ready for its inauguration in 1st week of March which is dedicated to pet animals. This will provide best-in-class veterinary care for the animals 24*7. The hospital named “Tata Trusts Small Animal Hospital” is located in Mahalaxmi, Mumbai, and is constructed on 2.2 acres.
This hospital is constructed with an amount of Rs165 crores that will be serving pet animals like Dogs, Cats and Rabbits, etc.,
Hospital Key Significance:
- The hospital is constructed on 2.2 acres that will be open 24/7
- It consists of 5 stories that can accommodate 200 patients in total
- This hospital has been constructed with partnerships from foreign country veterinary schools in the UK.
- Provides facilities like surgical, Diagnostic, Multidisciplinary care and Pharmacy
- Single Site Multi Speciality Animal Healthcare Centre
Ratan Tata Love For Animal:
Ratan Tata has shared his personal experience that “he flew his pet abroad for treatment of joint replacement but it was too late and so they froze the dog’s joint in a particular position”. This led him to think of the need for a multi-specialty hospital for animals in India.
As animals have been part of many families it is need for them to provide at most care for animals in case of any uncertain situations and this hospital will be serving the same purpose.
Initially, the hospital was planned to be built in Navi Mumbai but due to travel concerns, it was later shifted to Central Mumbai. This will provide easy access to travel and fast treatment when required. The hospital will be led by Thomas Heathcote (British Veterinarian) who shifted to Mumbai to manage the hospital.
Strong Perseverance:
This hospital was announced in 2017 but due to location access and COVID-19, the construction got delayed. However, Ratan Tata didn’t stop constructing the hospital after a huge delay. There were fewer hospitals for pet animals with low facilities in India but after the inauguration, no animal will be left behind with problems.
It aims to provide world-class treatment for all pet animals without the need for parents to foreign or left behind with no care. Though he thought to start the hospital in 2012 as chairman of Tata Sons that didn’t happen but after resigning as chairman it became possible.
