Which will bring significance to the temple in the future. Due to the COVID pandemic, the construction was delayed very much; otherwise, it would have been inaugurated in 2022.

Decades-Old Controversy:

Hindus believe that Ayodhya is Lord Rama’s birthplace and a Hindu temple’s presence a long way back.

Still, few reports stated that the temple was demolished to build a mosque named Babri masjid in 1528 by orders of Mughal Emperor Babur. In 1949, parties from both sides claimed that it was their land which led to the area being locked. On 17th December 1959, Nirmohi Akhara filed the case for possession of land, but a year later, on 18th December 1961, the Sunni Central Board of Waqf also filed a case for claiming ownership of land, which is 2.77 acres.

December 6th 1992, the demolition of the mosque took place, which led to massive protests across the country, causing around 2000 deaths, but the problem did not stop there, and the court saw several petitions from both sides.

In 2010, the Allahabad High Court stated that land should be divided into 3 parts for Hindus, Muslims and Akhara, which didn’t satisfy the petitioners and moved to the Supreme Court, which held to the decision of the High Court.

Further, in 2016, the S.C. started new hearings upon which the S.C. stated that land should be given to Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas, with the Muslim side being compensated with 5 acres of land in a prominent location in Ayodhya, which ended the controversy.

Donations Worth Crores:

This temple is constructed after many controversies and struggles from the past and it is built not only by trust but by the donation amount from many people.

The construction of the temple cost around 1,100 crores, and more than half of the amount came from donations from people after fundraising started. Here, the remarkable amount of 4.5 lakh donations came from homeless people living in Kashi and Prayagraj, with more than 300 people contributing.

Even still now, the trust is receiving donation amounts in various forms after the government allowed transactions in forms like digital currency, etc. This shows the significance level of the temple in Ayodhya, which is believed to be the holy place of lord Rama.
