Manipur, a state that had enforced a liquor ban for over 30 years, is set to undergo a significant change. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, led by Chief Minister N Biren Singh, has decided to lift the longstanding prohibition on liquor to boost the state’s revenue and address issues related to the sale of spurious liquor.

Additionally, the export of locally-brewed country liquor was permitted, marking a gradual shift in the state’s alcohol policy
