India is by far the most populated country in the world, now overcoming the necessities needed for every household i.e Electricity in every house 24/7 dream can be real by 2025!
24/7 Electricity By 2025:
Central Union Governments plans to call an executive meeting to work on providing Electricity 24/7 in the entire nation to every corner from cities to villages not even a single home should be left out without electricity reported Business Standard.
Due to this, Government is appealing to people to move towards electric cooking (e-cooking) till 2025 as the nation now has a 24/7 electricity supply in households & fully become an e-cooking nation by 2030, according to an official
India has also in 18 months, given Saubhagya (scheme) electricity connections to 26 million ( 2.6 crore ) households who did not have electricity access, this is by far the shortest time to be given electricity access to such a large amount of households.
India is supplying energy for 23.5 hours in all urban areas ( Average ) & at least 20.5 hours in rural areas ( Average ), It is a big achievement that the age of power cuts is behind us stated the power minister.
Reports also informed that 700 million people in the world still do not have access to basic electricity & universal energy access was one of the most important priorities of the G20 summit performed in India!
Experts in the sector point out that meeting urban areas’ electricity demands is relatively easier & often prioritized by both state-owned & private DISCOM industries.
Real Challenge Of 24/7 Electricity Plan:
The real challenge lies in rural areas, particularly agricultural zones that typically receive subsidized electricity from the state government with huge power cuts.
Achieving 24/7 power supply focuses on segregating rural feeders for domestic & irrigation purposes & reducing electricity subsidies
India’s energy policy is strategically designed to increase locally produced energy & combat energy shortages & power cuts! With a keen focus on developing alternative sources of energy like nuclear, solar, wind power etc India plans to scale up the contribution of nuclear power to overall electricity generation capacity from 4.2% to 9% by 2050!
Conclusion:
India also aims to add about 100,000 MW of solar power capacity by 2024 & leverage its position as the world’s fourth-largest wind power market. This initiative aligns with the global pledge made at COP28 in Dubai to triple the current installed nuclear capacity by 2050, a move strongly supported by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)!
