Halal Products

Halal Certified Products:

The Halal certification states that the product is prepared according to Islamic law without unadulterated. The Indian government neither supports Halal certification nor in opposition. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) certification is required for consumer edible products but the Halal certification is not mandatory to sell the products in India while products related to meat should be certified by the government as Halal to export to foreign countries

Conspiracy Around Halal Certification:

The government brought a scheme titled, India Conformity Assessment Scheme (I- CAS)which suggested all organizations need Halal certification to get certified legally by April 5th, 2024 under this scheme. The illegal Halal-certified products in the market are banned for production, selling, and usage which is also creating confusion over the certifications necessary for products under FSSAI and I-CAS

Why Halal Products Are Banned:

The ban on Halal products is mainly due to the illegal certification of products targeting particular communities where unwanted products are also certified illegally. The products are illegally certified by unauthorized private bodies to boost sales for profits.  A complaint was registered against some organizations and members for illegally certifying the products. Products like soaps, pastes, honey, etc., are also certified illegally which is not required under Halal certification, and playing against the trust of consumers which also has a negative impact on products that are not certified which is a big conspiracy and unlawful.

Conclusion:

The Halal certification is not mandatory except to export meat-related products to foreign countries. Many businesses in Uttar Pradesh illegally provided Halal certification to target particular communities to boost their sales and fund terrorist groups with this revenue as their primary motive and this ban was exempted from products related to exports and meat. This is one of the rising concerns over the products we are consuming where a few unknown products are not getting certification under FSSAI and need to be cautious while consuming uncertified products locally.
