This card will have a 12-digit unique identification number without any kind of biometric data synced to it. What Is Blue Aadhaar Or Baal Aadhaar Card?:
Blue Aadhaar Card is applicable for children under the age or equal to the age of 5 years. This card will be in blue rather than white like a normal Aadhar card issued at 5 years of age. As the Blue Aadhaar card is issued for children under 5 years of age there will be no biometric data synced to it.
This blue Aadhaar Card has a unique identification number similar to normal Aadhar cards. As there is no need for any kind of biometric access from children the Blue Aadhaar Card doesn’t store any biometric data except personal details. However, this Blue Aadhaar Card can be converted to a normal Aadhar Card at 5 years age of children.
Then the children must provide the biometric data which will be synced to the Aadhar Card and will be used for recognising the person’s identity.
This Blue Aadhar Card can be used to avail all the benefits from the government side to children. The Blue Aadhaar Card will have a 12-digit Unique Identification Number similar to a normal Aadhar Card along with parents and demographic details. This will be issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) which also issues normal Aadhar Cards.
What Document You Need To Apply For Blue Aadhaar Card:
- Parents can apply for this Blue Aadhaar Card by providing proof of their child’s birth certificate or discharge slip from the hospital.
- If your child is studying in any school then the school’s Identity card can also be used for applying Blue Aadhaar Card.
Baal Aadhaar Card Online Registration:
- Parents need to visit the UIDAI portal on the internet to start the registration process for this Blue Aadhaar Card.
- Upon visiting the portal select Aadhar registration
- Enter the required details like the child’s name, parent name, phone number and address along with other information if asked.
- After entering the details then select the slot for visiting the enrolment centre or you can visit the centre directly to enrol and slot confirmation. Sometimes the enrolment centre will be free and have enough slots for enrolment.
- At the enrolment centre, the child has to provide his/her picture will be updated and the parent’s details, address proof, and child’s birth certificate will be verified.
- The parent will receive a message to the registered mobile number after the process completion about the update.
- The enrolment centre will provide the acknowledgement slip of the Blue Aadhaar Card and a card will be issued within 60 days of enrolment.
Upon the children turning above 5 years, the parents and children must visit the enrolment centre to update the biometric data and photograph.
Once the children turn 15 years they have to visit again to update the details which will be done free of cost. However, if the information is not updated at both times then the card will become invalid. If the card becomes invalid then the child has to apply for a new Aadhar Card.
Conclusion:
One can directly apply for a normal Aadhar Card upon the children turning above 5 years of age. There is no mandatory registration for Blue Aadhaar Card as of now for children. However, the children might miss the benefits of government schemes like EWS for children, if there is no Blue Aadhaar Card and even few schools have mandated the need of a Blue Aadhaar Card for admission in their schools.
