India marks the 75th Republic Day on 26th January 2024 with more energy and enthusiasm as India achieved powerful milestones on the international level last year and to develop India from PM MODI by the next decade. As you are here to know the importance of the day.

75th Republic Day Celebration:

The theme for the celebration of the 75th Republic Day is “VIKSIT BHARAT” with a vision of the crucial role of women in developed India in the presence of Chief guest EMMANUEL MACRON, French president. For the first time, all women tri-services of CRPF, BSF, ITPB, and CISF contingent will march on the KARTAVYA PATH.

The parade will be heralded by 100 Women Artists with musical instruments with Viksit Bharat will focus on the important role of women from all states. The 95-member French Foreign Legion contingent will also march on the kartavya path.

The first C-295 tactical military aircraft will debut through flight along with 4 Indigenous Tejas fighters in a diamond formation. The flights will have 6 women fighter pilots along with an IAF tableau having flight lieutenant ANANYA SHARMA and ASMA Sheikh flying SUKHOI-30 MKI jets in ait.

Later the showcase of 1,900 sarees and drapes from across the nation will take place at ANANTA SUTRA with QR codes that provide the details of the weaving and embroidery used and Modi will be showing the UPI PAYMENT SYSTEM to the French president. In 13,000 invites this year there are sarpanches of vibrant villages and top best self-help groups and farmers producer organisations.

The parade direction stretches from Vijay Chowk to Kartavya Path which showcases the Indian development. The total seating capacity for celebrating will be 77,000 where 42,000 seats are reserved for the general public

India’s original constitution is preserved in helium-filled cases with signatures on the constitution of India with Rajendraprasad who was the last to sign the Indian constitution and with other key members which included Jawaharlal Nehru.

Significance Of Republic Day:

Republic Day was celebrated after the formation of the constitution of India where until then Indians have been following the government of India in 1935. After the independence on August 15th, 1947 a resolution was made to form the constitution under the chairperson of Dr. Br Ambedkar.

It took 2 years 11 months and 18 days to gather all the points under the constitution which was passed in assembly on November 1949 and got approved. The constitution became active on January 26th, 1950, named after PURNA SWARAJ on 26th January resembling full independence from the British as stated by the Indian National Congress.

The Republic Day significance lies in the establishment of a self-governing country that is free from any ruling along with self-guidance of the constitution.

Republic Day Celebration:

The celebrations in colleges and offices showcase enthusiasm patriotic fervor and adaptability of the country’s constitution with cultural aspects

The celebration of Republic Day usually starts with hoisting the Republic Day flag and fests resembling the constitution.

The musical event, cultural activities, and dance performances along with other activities explain the importance of the constitution filling patriotic feelings in everyone.

The Timeline of Constitution Formation:

  • 1928 – Jawaharlal Nehru first attempted to make the constitution.
  • 1935 – Indian National Congress & British officers accepted the idea of the constituent assembly.
  • 1946 – Constitution assembly formed with 389 seats; INC won 208 &Muslim League 73.
  • 9th December 1946 – First meeting of constituent assembly held by Pandit Nehru.
  • 3rd June 1947 – Mountbatten plan accepted INDIA – PAKISTAN partition.
  • 23rd August 1947 – Drafting committee appointed under Ambedkar as chairman.
  • 26th November 1949 –  Drafting completed & known as constitution day.
  • 24th January 1950 – A handwritten constitution is signed.
  • 26th January 1950 – Constitution legally enforced with 395 articles & 8 schedules & 22 parts.
  • 26th Jan 2024 – The constitution changed to 448 articles, 12 schedules& 25 PARTS in total.

With a total of 11 sessions through 165 days of discussions by 299 members, we have made 2000 amendments before finalization and the first draft was submitted to the Rajendraprasad.

The Constitution drafting committee consists of 7 members.

B.L. MITTER was replaced by N.MADHAV RAU as he resigned due to health issues and D.P . KHAITAN was replaced by T.T. KRISHNAMACHARI as he died.

The Constitution was created in the form of a book by

  1. Prem Behari Narain Raizada – handwrote the constitution
  2. Nandala Bose – decorated the original manuscript of the Indian constitution
  3. Gauri Bhanja – illustrated the Chola bronze Nataraja
  4. Beohar Rammanohar Sinha – designed the preamble page
  5. Dinanath Bhargava – designed national emblem, the lion capital of Ashoka
  6. Jamuna Sen – worked as part of a team illustrating the Indian constitution
  7. Kripal Singh Shekhawat – illustrated original document of the Indian constitution
  8. Sumitra Narayan – illustrated some pages of the Indian c constitution

Few members requested changes in the constitution that are active in the constitution

  1. JaipalSingh Munda – represented tribal in constituent assembly with drafted version
  2. Durgabai Deshmukh – stood against the imposition of Hindi and supported the formation of linguistic provinces
  3. Taj mahal-Hussain – intervened in debates around freedom of religion, the proclamation of emergency, and reservations
  4. Ananthasayanam Ayyangar–involved in issues like process rights, and rights of the arrested person, stated village panchayats as the cornerstone of India’s constitutional structure, distracting universal adult franchise
  5. JermosD’souza – spoke up for minority interests and religious freedoms
  6. Shgakarraodeo – made a strong plea for India’s cultural diversity and opposed Hindi as single language for the whole country

Conclusion:

India’s function through the Government of India Act of 1935, lacked a permanent constitution by which it was overcome by constitution. The Republic Day strengthens the significance and importance of everyone reflecting ideas of equity, freedom, and equal rights them. This celebration reflects that democracy is not just a recreation rather but a better management.

The republic celebration ends on 29th January giving an end to festivities. on this day the constitution was officially followed and stood all with the Act of Freedom in 1947.
